Proper Seed Storage

Seeds germinate due to the combination of two conditions:
  • heat
  • moisture
Without heat and moisture, seeds will not germinate. If either of these conditions are applied when the gardener is not prepared for germination to occur, the longevity of a seed is decreased.

To maintain the viability of the seed, insure that the seed remains:
  • cool
  • dry
The best place for this is to keep the seeds sealed in a jar in the refrigerator. Only remove the seeds that are ready to be planted and then immediately return the rest to their cool and dry place.
